Something from Nothing: The
Art of Collage. Nat Thomas will
help participants explore the basic compositional
skills involved in creating an original image by combining different
elements
from existing sources.

Printmaking. Spend a few hours in Gerda van
Leeuwen’s studio for an introduction to monotype techniques and
creating
positive/negative images utilizing tracing and stencil work on thin
Asian
papers.

Papermaking. Longyear’s
favorite papermaker, Janice DeMarino, will teach you how to cast paper from
various fibers and inclusions.

Watercolor Landscape Painting. Robert
Axelrod invites you to
accompany him to an extraordinary environment, where he will instruct
you on
the fundamentals of painting watercolor landscapes.
August 15
Monotype – The Painterly Print. This
popular workshop with Helene K.
Manzo focuses on three types of monotypes (one-of-a-kind, hand-pulled
prints),
giving participants the tools to insure the spontaneity and
experimentation
that have always characterized this unique medium.

18th Century Doll Making. Susan
Whittenburg will explore the
mechanics and details of creating a fabric doll in the 18th
Century
style.

Using Color and Value in Painting. John
Hopkins is a master in
acrylics. This workshop will take place
plein air, weather permitting, and will stress the use of value in
creating a
painting. Participants will work with
the color wheel, hue, value and intensity to create a work of art.

Intermediate Level Watercolor. Richard
Simms will utilize an indoor
environment to assist intermediate painters with a grasp of composition
and
drawing refine their utilization of light, medium and dark values,
positive and
negative space and working with a limited palette.
This program funded in part by the NYSCA
Decentralization
Program, administered in Delaware County by The Roxbury Arts Group. The fee to participants is $15 per workshop
(materials included) and $10 per life drawing session.
